Resources Page: From Personal Recommendations to a List

Welcome to the resources page! If you're here, you're either 1. curious or 2. need help! Either one, welcome and I hope you find what you need! Please remember to call emergency services in your area if you are feeling in need of immediate assistance and for any mental crisis. Also remember that you aren't alone and there's never any shame in asking for some help.

This page is an active work in progress. Receiving recommendations for this page in the first week of opening this blog site (without posts yet) has inspired me to really compile a nice list of resources here. Please send in any resource you think might help. You never know who might be looking for that little idea you've had in the back of your mind!

Road Safety!

With so many of us "on the go" all the time, it's way too important to get our emotions in check - especially on the road.  This isn't just about us, after all. There's other people on the road, too.

This resource, referred to us by The Stephens Law Firm in Texas, shows us two huge lessons:

1. The information is top-tier, you should check out the link below!

and

2. That good humans exist everywhere. One recommended this to us! Sharing safe roads is important. We all want to arrive alive. We're in this together, whether we like it or not!

Personal Recommendations

Finding the right support system is crucial for healing. It's on us to create a support system that meets all of our individual needs. My needs specifically are being met by the following personal suggestions:

  • Finch Care App: I highly recommend this app to everyone to help in their healing journey. I pay for the premium version (9.99/month) and have a few main categories other than just self-care. I use it to log my fitness routines, keep track of productivity and make new specific goals. It's become such a routine using the app that I wake my Birb up before clicking on any other app!
  • Palouse Mindfulness: This resource provides a free online mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) course that I have found helpful. It's taken me an extremely long time to finish this course- in fact, I still haven't. But the point is that you can work at your own pace and as things come up, take little mental health breaks. So what that a single week took me three months? At least I did it!    https://palousemindfulness.com/MBSR/gettingstarted.html
  • Local Therapy: I'm lucky enough to have Medical Insurance and so, I go to CBT once a week with the intentions of completing therapy. Now, the truth is that I think I'll always have a therapist... yeah, like for the rest of my life. I mean, they'll change and all but... if you have insurance that covers behavioral health/mental health services - get into therapy. There's never any reason to turn down a safe space to speak to another human.

On the "My Journey" page, you'll find a similar list of "what's worked for me" because truly, this is the best baseline foundation you can start with when it comes to healing, in my opinion. You've got to start with the basics -

1. Proper Nutrition

2. Regular Exercise (even in your room, I've quite literally grown 4inches of bicep in my own room with dumbells!) No excuses, love!

3. Good quality and enough sleep.

4. A comfortable nest. Having a comfortable [and] pretty home has been detrimental to my healing journey. Safe spaces are highly underrated!

5. A listening ear - again with therapy. If there are any free group resources in the area, those help, too. At one point in my journey, I relied heavily on the connections I made in Narcotics Annonymous and Alcoholics Annonymous to be my emotional support. Find it where you can!

Remember, what works for me might not work for you. These are simple recommendations. Figure out what works for you and what makes you feel good inside and out! You never know what you might find. If you have any recommendations, please use the form below to have them considered for this page. (Please ensure they aren't local only or if so, make sure they're at least state-wide. I'm willing to expand this list as time goes on to become a full state-by-state resource list.)

Do you have a resource you'd like to recommend?

After review, your submission might be added to the "user recommended" section below!
